:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Sharon Henry -- Mark Twain's best writing. : Mark Twain is incredible on any written page, but he is at his best with this book. I can't believe I have gone this long without reading it. ( Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from F. Orion Pozo -- An Outstanding Fictional Presentation Makes This a Great Introduction to The Life of Joan : Mark Twain wasn't the only pseudonym used my Samuel Clemens. When this book was first serialized in Harper's Magazine in 1895, it was presented as "Freely Translated out of the Ancient French into Modern English from the Original Unpublished Manuscript in the National Archives of France" - a found manuscript with no connection to the famous author. The book presents itself as a memoir by a fictional companion of Joan's written for his family in the final years of life. The narrator claims to be a childhood friend of hers who, being one of the few people of her village that can write, accompanies her and becomes her secretary during her military career. After her capture and imprisonment, he sneaks into Rouen, where she is to be tried, and becomes an assistant to the official recorder of the the events. Thus, the author has established a single voice that can tell the complete history of the brief, miraculous life of the Maid of Orleans. ( Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2006 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Virginia Liebl -- Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc Audio by Mark Twain : I love it and listen to it over and over. I'd like to purchase a paperback or hardcover of this but want to be SURE it is unabridged. I also hope to give the audio as gifts this Christmas. Read by Robin Field......so, so good!!! This would be a wonderful gift for those who are on long road trips and for visually impaired people as well. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2014 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Martin K. Myers -- True Patriotism : Let Joan de Arc be first in our mind when we think of Patriotism of our Country! Was she sent and inspired by God himself? Should be a Saint today? Should England and their corrupted priests and judges be confined to Hell forever? I think all of above. ( Reviewed in Canada on May 15, 2021 )

If it were not for Joan of Arc's life, we could hardly believe such things to be possible.
